Teaching Philosophy

I coach with the foundations of classical singing, which is universally applicable due to its focus on vocal health.

Vocalists are expressive athletes: we require conditioning and training of both large and small muscles to put on a repeatable, spectacular performance. Singing is always a full-body workout and should barely fatigue the fragile mechanism of the throat and larynx. We will engage the larger tools of the body such as the intercostals, core, articulators, and placement, with safe and efficient use of the singing mechanism.

Although sessions are always customized for the individual, we will generally start with a brief vocal workout, followed by a deep dive into the repertoire of your choice. See “Pricing” above for more information about sessions.

Send me a message for a free 30-minute consultation to see if I can be a good fit for your vocal journey or ensemble!

My specialty is with adult and late adolescent learners, whether they are professional or beginning vocalists. I coach on audition prep, show prep, and good-habit building!

I work with experienced singers because it’s thrilling to find sounds that enhance storytelling, and I work with beginning singers because I believe anyone who can phonate (speak) is capable of being a great singer.
